Most famously known as the wife of John Lennon of the Beatles, Yoko Ono was a multimedia artist, peace activist, and a singer. After graduating in 1951, she began studying philosophy at Gakushuin University but left after 2 semesters.
After moving to the U.S., she enrolled at Sarah Lawrence College. However, she eloped with her first husband before completing her studies. Ono stayed in Tokyo through World War II, including the firebombing of 1945. At that time, she was forced to beg for food on the streets while pulling her belongings in a wheelbarrow.
